Placement into the Business English Program
You need to have an intermediate level English language proficiency or higher to be able to enroll in the BE Program.
How can you show the BE Program that your English is at the intermediate level? You should do one of these things:
1) Submit a score for one of the following standardized tests: TOEFL PBT (450), TOEFL iBT (45), TOEIC (400), or IELTS (4.5).
OR
2) Take the Cambridge Michigan English Placement Test on testing day and score a 56 or higher.
OR
3) Show that you have successfully completed Level 4 or higher in the UCI Extension 10-Week Intensive ESL Program. If you are in Level 3, you may set a meeting
with the 4-Week Business English Coordinator for an oral interview and/or ask your current teachers to recommend you (via email to the Coordinator) OR take the
BE placement test.
However, you will be automatically accepted to the BE Program if you show that you have been accepted to either of the following:
1) Accelerated Certificate Program (ACP) at UCI Division of Continuing Education
OR
2) Paul Merage MBA Program at UC Irvine or another MBA program
