Pronunciation & Vocabulary

What is the goal of your Pronunciation/Vocabulary class?
This class will help you improve your knowledge of English vocabulary by studying new words used in everyday conversation and academic work. You will learn to understand the meanings of these vocabulary items and how to use the expressions correctly in speaking and writing. You will also practice pronunciation of the sounds of English, as well as word stress, intonation, and other aspects of good pronunciation.

What will you do in class?
This will be a very active class. You will learn a lot of new words and practice dialogs using them. Then you will do lots of practice in pairs or small groups to help you learn to use them well. You will learn about the pronunciation of American English and work on making your own pronunciation clearer and easier to understand.

The teaching methods that your teacher uses will be interactive and communicative. This means that you will have many chances to speak and participate during class in order to improve your English ability.

What will you be graded on?
In your Pronunciation/Vocabulary class, your grade will be based on these things:
Vocabulary quizzes                                                   35% of your grade
Pronunciation assessments and assignments   35% of your grade
Assignments                                                               30% of your grade
